The way I approach therapy
Did you grow up with the idea that therapy has a negative stigma associated with it? Sadly, many of us have. Maybe you are in the process of learning to embrace the power of therapy, or recognizing that you might need a little bit of help. Perhaps you’ve said that you want therapy to ‘fix’ something. Regardless of what brought you here, you aren’t broken! Instead, I invite you to think of therapy (and this whole journey) as a way of working toward becoming the version of yourself that you wish to see. In our therapy sessions, I will help guide you through this journey and meet you where you are to help you grow along the way.
My journey so far
As a child I loved the idea of having a career in which I could help others, but I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted it to be. I initially pursued a double major of Criminal Justice and Psychology at University of New Haven in Connecticut, but even after graduating wasn’t sure which direction to go. After taking a few years to work in the social work field, I returned to school and earned my Master of Social Work from Southern Connecticut State University. Since then, I have worked at a variety of agencies providing intensive therapy to children, adolescents, and families.
Outside of the therapy office, you can find me…
Outdoors! In the warmer months I love exploring hiking trails, camping, lounging in a pool or on the beach, and sitting by a fire under the stars. When snow starts to fall, I trade in my hiking boots for my snowboard boots! One day I hope to check off all 63 National Parks from my bucket list – 24 down, 39 to go! 🙂 When I’m feeling lazy I spend my time reading the latest Colleen Hoover book, doing a puzzle, or scrolling on TikTok.
