Philadelphia Therapist Grace Murray

Grace Murray (she/her), MFT

I specialize in:

  • Complex PTSD
  • Emotional Dysregulation
  • Dating and Relationships
  • Sex Therapy
  • Couples therapy

My approach:

You’re here because you’re seeking growth, I get it because I’ve been there myself. Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years as a therapy client and sat through sessions that ran the gamut from deeply transformative to frustratingly stagnant. My approach to therapy is client-led and consent-focused. Our sessions shouldn’t leave you confused about the course of treatment or the purpose of the work. I strive to foster a collaborative space where you are safe to feel, grow, and witness the full range of your resilience and vulnerability.

Tools I draw from:

I use an integrative, trauma-focused approach, drawing upon attachment theory, somatic experiencing, and Internal Family Systems. I incorporate Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to manage dysregulation during and outside of sessions, as we navigate the deeper work.

My Approach to Sex Therapy

I center pleasure, cultivating connection, and mindful awareness rather than focusing on sexual performance or achieving a specific goal. I use humor and creative exploration to build comfort with discussing and processing topics we are often taught to feel ashamed of. All bodies, identities, kinks, and sexual expressions are welcome here!

My Approach to Couples & Relationship Therapy

Relationships are one of the hardest parts of adult life, and we rarely get guidance on them. I work with partners who want to increase communication, coregulation, and connection. With techniques from Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy, we will explore how to navigate conflict effectively, repair what feels broken, and strengthen your intimate bond.

My Journey:

I completed a Bachelor’s in English at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. I eventually moved to Philadelphia to work as a birth and postpartum doula and nanny. After buckling down for a long bout of transformative self-work and therapy, I pursued a master’s in Couple and Family Therapy at Thomas Jefferson University. This work combines my passion for sexual health, relationship dynamics, and the profound emotional experiences of life.

Outside of therapy you can find me…

You can find me digging in my garden (or doing whatever my hobby of the month is), practicing tarot, taking long walks through West Philly, cooking something elaborate, watching weird old movies, subjecting my partner to couples therapy worksheets, or adventuring with friends. I love to create and am always looking for new crafts to try out.
