Welcome to The Therapy Gal

Hi, I’m Leeor Gal! If you’ve seen me on Instagram, you know I take a lighthearted and down-to-earth approach to mental health. Humor and authenticity have been my go-to tools for helping clients feel at ease and ready to dive into meaningful work.

Throughout my career, it’s become clear that real change happens once you feel truly at ease and ready to share your thoughts without hesitation.

That’s why, at The Therapy Gal, we’re all about creating a welcoming and relatable environment where you feel seen, heard, and understood from day one.

What To Expect In Therapy With Us

Philadelphia Therapists
  • A Space That Feels Like You – Therapy should feel natural, not forced. From the first session, we create an environment where you can relax, open up, and be yourself.
  • Sessions That Actually Help – We use evidence-based approaches tailored to you, so you walk away with insights and strategies—not just “how does that make you feel?”
  • Judgment-Free, Always – You can be 100% yourself, whether that means venting, laughing, or untangling the deeper stuff at your own pace.
  • Progress You Can Feel – Therapy isn’t just about talking—it’s about growth. We’ll help you break patterns, set boundaries, and start living life on your terms.

Individual Counselor

Finding the right counselor in Philadelphia can feel overwhelming. You want someone who understands both your challenges and the pace of life here. That is why The Therapy Gal was created. We make counseling feel approachable, comfortable, and genuinely helpful, without the heavy jargon.

You might be excelling at work while quietly running on empty. You may be the one everyone turns to, yet feel like no one really sees what you are going through. Or you may simply want a space where you can drop the pressure to seem fine and talk openly about what is actually happening.

Our team offers support for a wide range of needs, from anxiety and burnout to grief, life changes, and more. We work with people who are ready to be honest about what they are feeling and take steps toward real change.

Marriage & Relationship Counselor

You love each other, but lately you feel like roommates who happen to share a bed. You’re having the same fights over and over, or maybe you’ve stopped fighting altogether because it never gets anywhere. The spark feels gone, and you can’t remember the last time you had fun together without it ending in tension.

Our marriage and relationship counseling helps couples who are tired of the same patterns, feeling disconnected, or wondering if their relationship can be saved. We work with couples who still love each other but have no idea how to get back to being partners instead of adversaries.

Whether you’re newlyweds hitting your first major rough patch, parents who lost yourselves in the chaos, or long-term partners who’ve grown apart, we help you remember why you chose each other and build something stronger than what you had before.

Sex Therapy

Your sex drive disappeared and you have no idea why. Or sex hurts and your doctor just shrugged when you brought it up. Maybe you and your partner want completely different things and you’re both getting frustrated about it. You’re tired of avoiding conversations about sex or feeling broken because things aren’t working the way they should.

Our sex therapy approach talks about sex like it’s totally normal (because it is) without the awkward conversations you want to escape from. We help individuals and couples address low desire, mismatched libidos, painful sex, performance anxiety, and the relationship issues that affect intimacy.

Sexual health is part of overall health. When your sex life isn’t working, it affects your mood, confidence, relationships, and quality of life. You deserve to have a sexual life that feels good to you, whatever that looks like.

EMDR Psychotherapist

You’ve spent months or years in therapy talking about your trauma. You understand it now and can tell the story without crying, but you still have nightmares. You still jump when someone touches your shoulder or feel like you’re living your life from behind glass.

EMDR helps when talk therapy isn’t enough to heal from trauma, PTSD, childhood abuse, accidents, or any experience that’s still affecting your daily life. Instead of just talking about what happened, EMDR helps your brain actually process and heal from traumatic memories.

Whether you’re dealing with single-incident trauma like an accident or assault, childhood trauma that’s still running your adult life, or PTSD symptoms that make normal life feel impossible, EMDR can help you finally feel like the danger is over.

Family Counselor

Your family might look perfect on social media, but behind closed doors there are years of hurt feelings and the same arguments on repeat. Maybe you’re dealing with parents who still treat you like you’re 16, siblings who know exactly which buttons to push, or family gatherings that always end in drama.

Family counseling helps when love isn’t enough to stop the destructive patterns. We work with families dealing with parent-child conflicts, sibling rivalry, in-law drama, addiction impacts, grief, and all the messy complications that come with being related to people.

Whether you’re trying to set boundaries with parents, improve relationships with adult children, handle family crises, or just learn how to enjoy each other instead of surviving family time, we help families break exhausting cycles and actually connect.

LGBTQ+ Therapy

You’re tired of therapists who claim to be “LGBTQ+ friendly” but make you explain basic concepts about your identity. You need someone who already understands what it’s like to navigate coming out, deal with family who “love you but don’t understand,” or handle daily microaggressions.

Our LGBTQ+ therapy approach starts with respect and understanding from day one. We use your correct pronouns, understand relationship structures beyond heteronormative assumptions, and get that queerness often intersects with trauma. Our team includes queer-identified therapists who understand these experiences from the inside.

Whether you’re dealing with coming out stress, religious trauma, gender dysphoria, relationship issues, or the everyday mental health stuff everyone deals with, we provide affirming therapy where you can focus on your actual problems instead of educating another therapist.

Whether you’re navigating anxiety, relationship struggles, burnout, or just trying to figure out what’s next, our therapists bring the perfect mix of expertise, compassion, and down-to-earth support. Therapy FAQs

You don't have to hit rock bottom or have a diagnosis to benefit from therapy. If your emotions feel out of control, you can't shake that "off" feeling, or you're relying on unhealthy coping strategies to get through the day, those are signs that talking to someone could help. For a more in depth answer, visit our page on signs you might need therapy.

Therapy can last anywhere from a few months to a few years depending on what you're working on. Some people come in to work through something specific and wrap up in three to six months, while others find value in longer-term support. How long therapy lasts depends on your goals and what you're dealing with.

Individual therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes and couples sessions run about 60 minutes. The 50-minute hour gives you enough time to get into real conversation without feeling rushed, and it gives your therapist time to write notes and prepare between clients. We explain more about how long therapy sessions are here.

Most people start with weekly sessions because it builds momentum and helps you make real progress. As you start feeling better, you and your therapist might decide to meet every other week or once a month. How often you should go to therapy really depends on where you are in the process.

We are a private pay practice and don't bill insurance directly, but we provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement. Many of our clients get back a significant portion of their session fees from their insurance company. Check out our therapy rates and insurance FAQ for details.

Insurance therapy has lower copays but limits your options and requires a mental health diagnosis on your permanent medical record. Private pay costs more upfront but gives you more control over your treatment, better privacy, and access to therapists who might not take insurance. We wrote a full breakdown of insurance vs private pay therapy here.

Look for someone who specializes in what you're dealing with and offers a free consultation so you can see if they're a good fit before committing. Chemistry matters in therapy, so don't be afraid to talk to a few people before deciding. Philly Mag put together a helpful guide on how to find a therapist in Philadelphia.

Your first session is about getting to know each other and figuring out if you're a good match. You'll talk about what brought you in, give some background on your life, and your therapist will explain how they work. If you're nervous and want more info, we wrote a full guide on what to expect at your first therapy session.

You can talk to them about what's not working, try a few more sessions to see if things improve, or find a new therapist entirely. Not every match works out and switching is completely normal. We explain your options for what to do if you don't like your therapist here.

Therapy in Philadelphia typically costs between $125 and $300 per session depending on the therapist's experience and specialty. If you have a PPO plan, you might get 40% to 80% back through out-of-network reimbursement, which makes private pay more affordable than most people expect.
