Welcome to The Therapy Gal
Hi, I’m Leeor Gal! If you’ve seen me on Instagram, you know I take a lighthearted and down-to-earth approach to mental health. That’s why I started my therapy practice in Philadelphia – I wanted counseling to feel more relatable and less intimidating.
Maybe you’re crushing it at work but feel completely drained inside. Or you’re tired of being the person everyone calls for advice while you’re secretly falling apart. Or maybe you just want to stop feeling like you’re wearing a mask all the time.
Whether you’re reading this from your apartment in Northern Liberties after a long day, or taking a break from your inbox in Rittenhouse Square, you might be wondering if counseling is actually worth it. It absolutely is, but only if you find someone who gets it and creates a space where you can actually be yourself.

What Makes a Good Counselor in Philadelphia
Here’s the thing about finding a counselor in Philadelphia – you need someone who gets that you can have your dream job and still feel empty. Someone who understands that you can look like you have it all together on Instagram while crying in your car after work.
We work with a lot of high-achievers who are used to being the reliable one, the organized one, the one who has their life figured out. But the truth is, no one has it all figured out — and trying to keep up that image all the time is exhausting.
Individual counseling means getting real about what’s actually going on underneath all the productivity and people-pleasing. No judgment, no weird therapy speak, just honest conversations about why you feel stuck even when everything looks perfect from the outside.

Easily Find The Support You’re Looking For
Anxiety Therapy
Anxiety is like having 47 browser tabs open in your brain at all times. Your heart races over things that aren't actually emergencies, and you overthink texts for 20 minutes before sending them. We help you calm your nervous system and make decisions without spiraling.
Depression Therapy
Depression doesn't always look like staying in bed all day. Sometimes it looks like going through the motions while feeling completely disconnected. You're accomplishing things but nothing feels satisfying. We help you reconnect with what actually brings you joy and meaning.
Burnout Therapy
Burnout is what happens when you've been running on adrenaline and caffeine for so long that you've forgotten what it feels like to be excited about anything. You're successful, but you feel nothing. We help you recover without feeling like you're being lazy.
Grief Counseling
Grief isn't just about death. It's about any significant loss (jobs, relationships, friendships, health, dreams that didn't work out). We help you sit with loss without rushing to "move on" or "get over it."
Self-Esteem Therapy
The voice in your head is meaner to you than you'd ever be to anyone else. It tells you you're not smart enough, not successful enough, not attractive enough. We help you develop a more balanced relationship with yourself.
Life Transitions Counseling
Life transitions are hard even when they're good changes. New job, new city, new relationship status. Transitions bring up questions about who you are and what you want. We help you navigate change without losing yourself in the process.
Perfectionism Therapy
Perfectionism sounds like it would make you more successful, but really it just makes you miserable. You procrastinate because you're afraid of doing something imperfectly. We help you tell the difference between healthy standards and perfectionist thinking.
People-Pleasing Therapy
You've spent so much energy making everyone else happy that you've lost touch with what you actually want. You say yes when you mean no and apologize for things that aren't your fault. We help you set boundaries and say no without feeling guilty.
Anxiety Therapy Philadelphia
Anxiety is like having 47 browser tabs open in your brain at all times. Everything feels urgent. Your heart races over things that aren’t actually emergencies. You overthink texts for 20 minutes before sending them.
Sound familiar? You’re not broken, you’re just anxious. And anxiety in Philadelphia hits different because everything here feels like it’s moving fast. The competition at work, the social scene, the pressure to network constantly – it’s a lot.
In anxiety therapy, we help you figure out which thoughts are actually helpful and which ones are just your brain being dramatic. We teach you how to calm your nervous system when it’s freaking out over nothing. And we help you make decisions without spiraling into worst-case scenario mode.
Depression Therapy: When Everything Feels Pointless
Depression doesn’t always look like staying in bed all day. Sometimes it looks like going through the motions while feeling completely disconnected from your life. You’re accomplishing things but nothing feels satisfying. You’re surrounded by people but feel totally alone.
Depression can be sneaky like that. You might think you’re just tired or stressed, but really you’ve been running on empty for so long that you’ve forgotten what it feels like to actually enjoy things.
Depression therapy helps you reconnect with yourself and figure out what actually matters to you. Not what you think should matter, not what looks good on paper, but what genuinely brings you joy and meaning.
We start small because depression makes everything feel overwhelming. Maybe it’s taking a walk without listening to a podcast. Maybe it’s cooking something you actually want to eat instead of just grabbing whatever’s easiest. Baby steps count.
Burnout Therapy: For the Chronically Overwhelmed
Burnout is what happens when you’ve been running on adrenaline and caffeine for so long that you’ve forgotten what it feels like to be excited about anything. You’re successful, but you feel nothing. You’re busy, but nothing feels meaningful.
If you’re the type of person who checks emails at 11 PM and feels guilty taking lunch breaks, burnout therapy is probably for you. We help you figure out how you got so burned out and how to recover without feeling like you’re being lazy.
Burnout recovery means learning to set boundaries without feeling guilty. It means remembering that your worth isn’t tied to your productivity. And it means building a life that energizes you instead of draining you.
Grief Counseling: For All the Losses
Grief isn’t just about death. It’s about any significant loss – jobs, relationships, friendships, health, dreams that didn’t work out. Sometimes it’s grieving the person you thought you’d be by now.
Philadelphia went through a lot of collective grief during the pandemic. We lost routines, social connections, and ways of being that felt important. Some people are still processing what changed and what we can’t get back.
Grief counseling helps you sit with loss without rushing to “move on” or “get over it.” Grief is love with nowhere to go, and we help you find ways to honor what you’ve lost while still building a life you want to live.
Self-Esteem Therapy: Quieting Your Inner Mean Girl
Self-esteem therapy is for when the voice in your head is meaner to you than you’d ever be to anyone else. It tells you you’re not smart enough, not successful enough, not attractive enough. It compares you to everyone else and always finds you lacking.
Low self-esteem is exhausting because it makes everything harder. Job interviews, dating, friendships, even ordering at restaurants becomes complicated when you don’t trust yourself or believe you deserve good things.
Self-esteem therapy helps you develop a more balanced relationship with yourself. Not fake positivity or pretending you’re perfect, but actually seeing yourself clearly – including your strengths.
Life Transitions Counseling: For When Everything Changes
Life transitions counseling is for when you’re going through big changes and feeling completely lost. New job, new city, new relationship status, new life phase – transitions are hard even when they’re good changes.
Transitions bring up questions about identity. Who are you in this new situation? What do you want? How do you make decisions when everything feels uncertain?
Maybe you moved to Philadelphia for work and love the city but feel lonely. Maybe you got promoted and feel like an imposter. Maybe you ended a relationship and don’t know who you are outside of it.
Life transitions counseling helps you navigate change without losing yourself in the process. We help you figure out what’s most important to you so you can make decisions that feel authentic.
Perfectionism Therapy: When Good Enough Isn’t Good Enough
Perfectionism sounds like it would make you more successful, but really it just makes you miserable. You procrastinate because you’re afraid of doing something imperfectly. You avoid trying new things because you might not be immediately amazing at them.
Perfectionism shows up in weird ways. Rewriting emails 15 times. Avoiding dating because you don’t feel “ready enough.” Saying no to opportunities because you’re afraid you’ll mess them up.
Perfectionism therapy helps you tell the difference between healthy standards and perfectionist thinking. We help you build tolerance for being mediocre at things while you’re learning. We teach you to celebrate progress instead of only recognizing perfection.
Therapy for People-Pleasing: Finding Your Voice
People-pleasing therapy is for when you’ve spent so much energy making everyone else happy that you’ve lost touch with what you actually want. You say yes when you mean no. You apologize for things that aren’t your fault. You worry constantly about what other people think.
People-pleasing usually starts as a survival strategy, but as an adult it leaves you feeling resentful and invisible. You take care of everyone else but nobody takes care of you.
People-pleasing therapy helps you identify your own needs and wants, which can be surprisingly hard if you’ve been focused on others for years. We practice setting boundaries and saying no without feeling guilty. We help you tolerate other people’s disappointment, which is often the scariest part for people-pleasers.

Counseling FAQs
How much does counseling cost?
Our session rates vary depending on the counselor and range from $140-$175 for individual counseling and $165-$200 for couples counseling.
Do you accept insurance?
We are Out-of-Network with all insurance companies. We provide you with a monthly statement (called a Superbill) which you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. We have found that many insurance plans will reimburse 40%-80% of the cost of Out-of-Network counseling after meeting your deductible.
Do you offer flexible scheduling?
Absolutely. We understand that Philadelphia professionals have demanding schedules. We work with you to find times that actually work for your life.
What if I need to cancel last-minute because of work emergencies?
We get it - Philadelphia's work culture can be unpredictable. We have a 48-hour cancellation policy, but we understand that sometimes client emergencies come up. We'll work with you to reschedule when possible.
What if I don't know what to say in the first session?
This is totally normal. You don't need to come in with talking points. Many first sessions start with "I don't even know where to begin." We'll guide the conversation and help you identify what's really going on.
What if I don't have a specific issue? I just feel… off.
That's actually one of the most common reasons people start counseling. You don't need a diagnosed condition or major crisis to benefit from therapy. Sometimes the most important work happens when you explore that nagging feeling that life could be better.
