Why is Journaling So Great?

Journaling is a reflective way of getting out your thoughts in a healthy and productive manner.

Have you ever noticed your brain running on overdrive at the end of the night (perhaps you’ve labeled it as anxiety)? Well, that might mean that you’re holding onto a lot of the stress that went on that day or even week! It’s natural for us to overthink when there isn’t much stimuli (i.e. phone, computers, other people) distracting us from our thoughts. We can also all agree that anxiety is no joke, anxiety doesn’t play favorites, and when anxiety sees an opportunity- anxiety will attack. We don’t want to let stress and anxiety win… our mental health is much more important than that!

One of the best ways to cope with this is to let out our thoughts and feelings onto a piece of paper… this can also be known as journaling, duh! This expressive act of allowing something else (the piece of paper) to hold onto the pile of stress that is occurring in our headspace can feel like such an immense release- why wouldn’t you give it a try?!

“But Leeor, I don’t know what to write about.”

You’re not alone! Many of us feel really intimidated by journaling. To tell you the truth, I have never been great at journaling myself. I always thought it was one of the hardest things, and I really struggled coming up with topics to journal about. Once I became a therapist, I noticed that my clients struggled with the same thing. I am, however, glad to say that all of these experiences had led me to this moment.

In December 2021 I had officially published my first prompted mental health journal titled, Empower Your Mind. In January 2022, I was lucky enough to share it with you guys. Empower Your Mind is a twelve-week prompted journal, which includes a different theme each week.

Week 1: Thought Provoking

Week 2: Challenging Our Thoughts

Week 3: Strategic Thinking

Week 4: Mindfulness

Week 5: Hopeful Thinking

Week 6: Challenges

Week 7: Relationships

Week 8: Family

Week 9: Job/School

Week 10: Romantic Relationships

Week 11: Value and Worth

Week 12: Goals

Each week is meant to help you think more deeply into the various topics that relate to your life. These might be questions you have thought through before, or they might be questions you have never even thought to ask yourself! Either way, giving yourself the gift of reflection is so powerful.

Hopefully you enjoy it, and if you order it and like it- please don’t forget to write me a review on Amazon. 🙂

Love,

Leeor
